| Stage 1
In our first stage of work we reviewed the existing Connectix Videophone software (the original Windows interface shown here). In our Interface Design Analysis we assessed the general navigation sequences, specific interaction mechanisms, overall screen layout and use of graphics. Special emphasis was given to the problematic calling and directory interface as well as to the video control window.
We recommended that alternative designs for the overall appearance and metaphor of the videophone be explored, to give it a more consumer-oriented interface, as well as to provide a central focus for the entire calling process. The initial appearance and structure of the interface needed to be optimized for the simplest calling scenario, while still providing easy disclosure of more advanced information and functions. |
