We consulted with Apple on the redesign of the System 7 icons which introduced 8 bit color icons in the MacOS. We identified the need to distinquish between different types of system icons and to provide a clear and consistent visual stratgey for developing icons.

We generated alternatives for the overall visual approach for grouping the icons and for specific icon designs. The final design strategy provided a simple and consistent set of icons that were easily distinguishable.
